Dr. Henry Foley named Dean of IST

University Park, Pa. -- Henry C. "Hank" Foley, associate vice president for research and director of strategic initiatives, has been appointed dean of the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST).

Dr. Henry Foley named Interim Dean of IST

Henry C. "Hank" Foley, associate vice president for research and director of strategic initiatives, has been appointed interim dean of the College of Information Sciences & Technology.

Foley, who holds a doctorate in physical chemistry from Penn State, returned to the University in 2000 as the Walter L. Robb family endowed chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering.

In 2004 he accepted his current position, where he has been responsible for providing overall leadership of Penn State's Animal Resource Program, Center for Space Research, Homeland Security Council, Marine Corps Research University and the Worldwide University Network. He also was charged with development of major new initiatives and working closely with state and federal agencies.

Foley will assume leadership of IST beginning July 1.

Dr. Henry Foley named associate vice president for research

Henry Foley, Walter L. Robb Chair and Head of Chemical Engineering, has been named Associate Vice President for Research and Director of Strategic Initiatives. Andrew Zydney, professor of chemical engineering, has been appointed interim department head of chemical engineering. Both Foley and Zydney begin their new roles July 1, 2004.

In his new position, Foley will be responsible for providing overall leadership of the Animal Resource Program, Center for Space Research, Homeland Security Council, Marine Corps Research University, and the Worldwide University Network. He will also assist with the development of major new initiatives and work closely with state and federal agencies.
