Congratulations to graduate student Jason Binz who received the PAWS (Prevent Accidents With Safety) Student of the Month Award for November 2012. Jason will receive a gift card to a local business of his choice.

Jason's nominator said,

"Jason is the model student regarding safety in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Jason is a member of the Rioux group, which houses numerous potential safety hazards (large chemical and compressed gas inventory, high pressure reactors, large electrical loads, etc.)."

"In the past few months, we have undergone a number of physical safety renovations (installation of compressed gas cabinets, construction of reactor fume hoods, etc) that had nothing to do with his project. His commitment to safety is extraordinary and he is selfless in terms of ensuring the Rioux laboratory is a safe place to work."
