Systems Engineering

This research area considers complex, multiscale systems such as:

  • processes for manufacture of chemicals
  • energy distribution networks
  • spread of diseases in the human body
  • metabolic networks in microbes and plants

Systems engineering develops and applies computational tools to design, understand, optimize, and control these complex systems.
