Guo recipient of Tau Beta Pi Scholarship

Kexi "Winters" Guo, a senior this fall majoring in chemical engineering and chemistry, has been named the recipient of a Tau Beta Pi Scholarship in the amount of $2000 for 2018-19.

Tau Beta Pi (TBP), the engineering honor society, awards the scholarship based on a competitive criteria of high scholarship, campus leadership and service, and the promise of future contributions to the engineering profession. Guo met these criteria in multiple ways.

Guo is currently working for AdvanSix Inc., a top-50 U.S. chemical producer, as a co-op engineer. He also has served as the public relations officer for the Pennsylvania Beta Chapter of TBP, raising organizational awareness, recruiting new members and planning events. Along with these and other extracurricular activities, he served as a Cadet Platoon Sergeant and Battalion Assistant Logistics Officer while in the Penn State Army ROTC program. His battalion commanders recognized and awarded him “True Practice of Leadership” and “Taking Initiatives” for his efforts.

Guo has a strong interest in renewable energy and polymer applications. After graduation, he plans to start his professional career as a production engineer, and then obtain an MBA degree with a desire to go into management or sales. He also plans to join the U.S. Army at some point.
