Learn about our new building, to open in 2019

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — It’s been about two years since we announced the groundbreaking of the new facility that we will be sharing with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and we are excited to move in during spring 2019. Here are some facts about our soon-to-be new location:

  • The numbers: 194,500 square feet, six stories, and an estimated budget of $150M.
  • State-of-the-art teaching spaces
  • Laboratory spaces designed to foster collaborative research both within and across biomedical and chemical engineering as well as with neighboring colleges and institutes.
  • More faculty office space to facilitate additional faculty currently being recruited.
  • Central campus location, situated in the middle of Penn State’s interdisciplinary research hub, with neighbors such as the Materials Research Institute, the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences, the Millennium Science Complex, and various other labs.
  • The Dow Chemical Knowledge Commons, a 1,667-square-foot collaborative learning space with meeting venues and group working spaces equipped with state-of-the-art technology to support virtual and in-person gatherings.
